Default 300 Miles Across Scotland

"It’s the sort of long distance route that most keen walkers dream of. A long tough trek through some of the most majestic, remote and stunningly beautiful landscape you could dare imagine."

"The Cape Wrath Long Distance Trail is just short of 200-miles long and runs from Fort William to the most north-west tip of the Scottish mainland, a challenging and often remote route which, in essence, could be described as the hardest long distance backpacking route in the UK. Various routes exist between Fort William and Cape Wrath."

With nothing much to do here up on my ridgetop in Maine on this single digit temperature day I thought I would post the link to my 300+ mile hike Blog from Glasgow to Cape Wrath, Scotland.

Once there, my blog is number 7 under "Route Notes"

http://www.capewrathtrail.co.uk/

As you can see, it is being touted as part of the International Appalachian Trail. About which I will keep my thoughts to myself.

That trip looks awesome. Thanks for sharing. That is one I'd love to go hike. [except the profile map looks scary].

I did it in 2008 but hiked from Glasgow, going up the West Highland Way first. From Ft William I did the CWT variation that goes East (almost to Loch Ness) then NW from there.
I was lucky enough to have only 2 days with rain out of the 25 I was out (which I am assured is a rarity in Scotland) plus sunshine almost every day.
The pub food was great, I spent 6 or 7 nights in hotels. Thanks to a weak dollar, I spent more than I wanted but had a great time.
The amazing thing was the ability to walk anywhere without asking permission or having a marked trail. If there is a road, cart path or foot path on a map, you can legally walk it (with very little restriction).

My wife has a desire to go hike in the UK.
She never acts on it or even does any research, maybe I can get her to look at this thread to get things started.
