I'm planning my next section of the AT, I'm wondering if any of you can recommend a shuttle driver that can get me to the northern most trailhead in NJ or southern most trailhead in NY? Or if any of you live in the area and would be interested in picking me up at the airport and driving me to the trailhead for gas money.
I haven't worked out the dates yet, mid to late May 2010, I will fly into Newark Airport in NJ. From there I would like to go directly to the trailhead. Any help or advice would be appreciated. |

Rabbit,
I just sent you a P.M. Another thing to consider is taking public transportation from the airport into Manhattan and then catching a bus to where the trail crosses route 17a or into the town of Greenwood lake. From Greenwood lake you can take the State Line Trail up to the AT right at the NY/NJ line.

Thanks LIHikers. I was just looking at the same section and you've made starting the walk a lot easier. I was debating New York vs Newark and New York is best. We're looking to walk as far as Delaware Water Gap and I need to get back to New York. Any suggestions for how to do that.
